The fee for the approximately 3-month cruise includes the meals, fuel, stops in ports and marinas. The minimum crew consists of 6 persons, maximum 8. It is possible to change the route after consultation with the entire crew.
Each participant must be insured individually and according to the general rules applicable to travel abroad (hospital costs, dental, etc.).
s/v Black Diamond sails with people of all ages. Experience is not necessary, although on the voyage across the Indian Ocean - it's recommended.
Cpt. Jerzy Radomski is one of the most well-known Polish sailors. In the years 1978-2010 he has traveled on board of the yacht Black Diamond more than 240 000 Nm, which is equivalent to the 11 circumnavigations of the earth. It's also 32 000 Nm (60 000 Km) more than the distance from Earth to the Moon!
While on a 32 year long voyage he visited 82 countries and 449 ports. During the trip he was accompanied by four-legged crew: Burgas (1978-1991), a dog from Bulgaria, and Bosman (1990-2009), a dog from South Africa - on which he has published a book "Burgas and Bosman - dogs from Black Diamond". Besides other rewards, he was twice the winner of the most prestigious sailing prize in Poland - Silver Sextant (1995 and 2010).
s/y Black Diamond (steel ketch, LOA 15,85m) was designed basing on Cpt. Radomski's ideas, and became a new design called "Rigel". It was built between 1971-1978 in Moszczenica Coal Mine in Jastrzebie Zdroj.
Two years after big welcome in the country from the longest voyage in the history of Polish sailing - 16 September 2012 yacht Black Diamond along with Capt. Jerzy Radomski started his new voyage around the world. He sailed from Europe crossed the Atlantic, wandered in the Caribbean, and after passing the Panama Canal - after 32 years again he crossed the Pacific, visiting many islands on the way. In New Zealand he made a technical stopover, then reached Australia and currently he is continueing to explore Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
Back to Poland is planned for 20 July 2016.
